Manning River Turtle Art Competition

First prize in the 2017 Manning River Turtle Art Competition went to Olivia Payne, a year 11 student at Wingham High School.
In 2017, at the same time as the inaugural Winter Solstice Lantern Walk, the inaugural Manning River Turtle Colouring In and Art Competition took place.
All local preschools and primary schools took part in the colouring in competition and winners split into specified age groups.
Some Wingham High School art students took part in an art competition, where first and second places were awarded.
Both competitions were judged by local wildlife illustrator and fine artist Peter Schouten AM with winners receiving cash prizes, donated by the Wingham Chamber of Commerce, and announced at the Winter Solstice Lantern Walk.
The colouring in and art competition was once again run in conjunction with the Winter Solstice Lantern Walk in 2018, with home schoolers entering the competition.

First prize high school: Mali Hoadley won for her collage demonstrating threats to the turtle′s environment.
MRTG is currently considering the possibility of the competition turning into a Junior Art Prize.
